Rotary was formed in February 2008 by Andy Wakeman, Bob and Jack Todaro, and Dan Matthews. The band's only goal starting out was to try and successfully recreate songs from The Beatles' catalogue. They played their first show in March 2008. Since then, they've played over 40 shows across Connecticut, compiling a list of venues that includes Toad's Place, Blue Back Square, and Mohegan Sun. They have also become regulars at several bars in the area and recently opened for The Guess Who at the Durham Fair Main Stage.
Along with a songlist of over 100 Beatles songs, Rotary has been steadily adding original songs to their live performances, as well as other classic rock covers. The band recorded their first EP, consisting of six original songs, in April 2009 and released the CD in July 2009. The EP will be available for sale at all upcoming shows, and could be available on iTunes in the near future.
The band prides themselves on the youth and energy that they bring to their live performances, and their ability to capture the full Beatles arrangements with a four-piece band. The boys are also often joined on stage by Bob's wife, Brityn Todaro, to add in the light percussion that is so essential to many Beatles songs. In 2009, Rotary joined Cubed Squared, adding their name to a list of other talented artists throughout the region.
